Wait — a simple word, but one that carries weight. To wait is to pause, to delay action until a particular time or until something else happens. But when we wait on God, it’s not about sitting still in frustration; it’s about being positioned in trust.
Waiting stretches us. It teaches patience — the ability to accept or tolerate delay, trouble, or suffering without getting upset or losing hope. Waiting is not passive; it’s spiritual endurance. And often, it’s in our waiting seasons that God does His most transformative work.
When to Wait
We wait when we’re weak.
We often think weakness disqualifies us, but the opposite is true. God meets us in our weakness with His strength. As Apostle Paul wrote,
“My grace is all you need. Only when you are weak can everything be done completely by my power.”
(2 Corinthians 12:9 ERV)
In our most fragile moments, God shows up with power, refining us, comforting us, and preparing us.
How to Wait
1. With courage and bravery
Waiting doesn’t mean hiding. It means standing firm, with a heart that’s anchored in trust.
“Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.”
(Psalms 27:14 NLT)
2. With hope and expectation
Don’t wait in despair — wait with faith that something good is coming.
“I am counting on the Lord; yes, I am counting on him. I have put my hope in his word.”
(Psalms 130:5 NLT)
3. In silence
Sometimes, the most powerful prayers are whispered through stillness.
“I wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from him.”
(Psalms 62:1 NLT)
Let your quiet be an act of confidence, not confusion. You’re not forgotten — you’re being formed.
Why Wait
Because God is more concerned with who you’re becoming than what you’re receiving.
“Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”
(James 1:2-4 NIV)
Waiting builds character. It aligns our desires with God’s. It strengthens our faith, and gives us a clearer view of His promises.
What Are You Waiting For?
Greater patience and gentleness toward yourself?
Innovation and direction for personal fulfillment?
Stability in your career?
A deep and real experience of self-love?
Family deliverance and salvation?
Boldness to live out your faith?
New adventures — both solo and shared?
A home that feels like peace?
The unveiling of your husband/wife?
Children, in God’s perfect time?
And in all this, you’re not just waiting for something — you’re waiting with someone. God is with you in the waiting. He’s not distant. He’s near, working behind the scenes, preparing you for what’s next.
So take a breath. Release the urge to rush. You are not behind — you are right on time in God’s plan.
Wait well.
